Chicago Plays Host to Mail Handlers Convention

Starting tomorrow, hundreds of delegates and their families will be traveling from across the country to participate in the NPMHU’s Quadrennial National Convention.  The Fairmont Hotel in downtown Chicago will play host to the activities and proceedings that ensue this coming week.  With stunning views of Lake Michigan, the Chicago River, and the greenery of Millennium and Grant Parks, visitors to the Convention will be able to take in the sights without having to step outside.

The Convention itself is slated to take place in a state-of-the-art ballroom on the hotel’s lowest level.  There, delegates from 37 Locals will be able to vote on motions to adopt constitutional amendments and resolutions, elect Judges of Election and National Officers, and listen to motivational words from an array of distinguished speakers.

Any good Convention intersperses business with pleasure – and this week’s is no exception.  There is plenty of fun to be had in Chicago, and with the pre-organized banquets at classic destinations such as Navy Pier and the Shedd Aquarium, delegates will experience yet another side to this great city.
In addition to these activities, the hotel is a stone’s throw away from tons of Chicago’s most popular attractions.  Delegates will be encouraged in their down time to explore and take in the many sights.  Whether it’s deep dish pizza at Giordano’s, rooting for the Sox at Cellular Field, or taking a dip in the chilly waters of Lake Michigan, there’s something for everyone in this City of Big Shoulders.
